My tip has not appeared

Every tip is read before it becomes visible, so that nothing offensive or dangerous is published to everyone the moment it is written. Until it is approved, only you can see it, marked Waiting for approval under Saved.

This usually takes a day or two. If a week has gone by, email me — something has gone wrong, and I would like to know.

Reporting a tip or a route

Open it, tap the three dots and choose Report. It disappears from your app straight away, and I read every report. You can also block the person who wrote it: you then stop seeing everything from them, and they are never told.

If something needs to come down quickly, email me rather than waiting for the report to be read.

Deleting what you have shared

Publishing a travel route

A trip under Saved is private. If you want others to be able to follow it, open it and choose Publish this trip. It needs at least four pinned places, a note on at least half of them, and a few sentences about what the trip was. Those are there on purpose: a list of pins without any reason attached is not much use to the person reading it.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. Everything built into the app is on your phone, so the destinations, tips, maps of where things are and anything you have saved all work on a plane or without roaming. What needs a connection is fetching tips other people have shared recently, and sending your own. A tip you write offline is kept and goes out by itself next time you are online.

My destination is not in the app

You can still add a tip from anywhere: search for the place when you write it, and it is added. Under each country there is also a full list of its cities, so you can find the one you are going to and be the first to write something from there.

Location and notifications

The map can show where you are, and the app can list tips near you. If you said no and want to change your mind, it is in the iPhone's own Settings, under Traveltips. Saying no costs you only those two things.

Does it cost anything?

No. Traveltips is free, with no advertising and nothing to buy.

Suggestions

If something is wrong in a tip, or a place is missing that ought to be there, tell me. The app is small enough that a single message changes it.
