Privacy Policy

Who I am

StudyScan is made by Angelica Brenden, an independent app developer in Norway. If you have any questions about this policy, email Angelicabrenden@gmail.com.

What StudyScan stores

Everything you create in StudyScan is stored on your iPhone or iPad, inside the app's own storage:

• The page images you scan
• The text recognised from those pages
• Your highlights, notes and reading position
• The summaries the app has made

None of this is sent to me, and none of it goes to a server of mine — I do not have one. It is included in your device backup if you back up your device, and it is deleted when you delete a book or remove the app.

iCloud

StudyScan can keep your books on every device you are signed in to with the same Apple Account, so a book you scan on your iPhone shows up on your iPad. This uses Apple's iCloud, and everything is kept in your own private iCloud, alongside your other app data.

I cannot see any of it. I have no access to your iCloud, no administrator view, and no way to read your pages, notes or summaries. Apple's handling of the data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

The page images take up room in your iCloud storage — a book of several hundred pages can be a couple of hundred megabytes. You can switch syncing off under Settings in the app, and your books then stay on the device you are using.

Text recognition and summaries

Reading the text from your scanned pages happens entirely on your device, using Apple's built-in text recognition. Nothing is sent anywhere for this.

Summaries are also made on your device, by Apple Intelligence, on devices that support it. Your pages do not leave the device.

This means your study material is never sent to me, to any server of mine, or to any other company, for either text recognition or summaries.

Advertising

StudyScan uses Google AdMob to show an optional rewarded ad when you choose to unlock a summary for free instead of buying StudyScan Pro.

If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks you before any ad is shown, and you choose whether ads may be personalised. Answer no, and the ads are not chosen from a profile of you. Answer yes, and Google and its advertising partners may use information from your device to choose them.

You can change your answer whenever you like, under Settings in the app — «Personvernvalg for annonser».

Whatever you answer, StudyScan never asks for permission to track you across other apps and websites. To deliver an ad and prevent fraud, Google receives technical information such as device type, coarse region and whether an ad was shown or completed. Google's own handling of that data is described in Google Privacy & Terms.

Buying StudyScan Pro removes the ads entirely.

Purchases

StudyScan Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Apple. Payment is processed by Apple, and I never see your card details or your Apple Account information. The app only records, on your device, whether the purchase has been made.

What I do not do

• No user accounts and no sign-up
• No analytics or usage tracking of my own
• No selling of your data
• No sharing of your study material with anyone
• No access to your photo library, contacts or location

The camera is used only while you are scanning pages, and the images go straight into the app's own storage.

Children

StudyScan is made for students and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

• Delete a book in the app to remove its pages, notes and summaries from your device.
• Choose under Settings whether ads may be personalised, and change your mind at any time.
• Switch iCloud syncing off under Settings to keep your books on one device.
• Buy StudyScan Pro to remove ads entirely.
• Delete the app to remove everything StudyScan has stored.

Changes to this policy

If StudyScan changes in a way that affects this policy, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
