Discscan · Last updated 19 October 2026

The short version: Discscan has no account, no advertising and no tracking, and sends nothing about you anywhere. Everything you add stays on your iPhone.

What the app stores

To work, Discscan keeps a few things on your phone: your bag and favourites, discs you have added yourself, the throws you log, the condition and colour of your discs, and your settings such as which hand you throw with and how far. This is stored only on the device. It is not sent to me or to anyone else.

Camera

The camera is used to read the stamp on a disc and the hole map on a tee sign. The text is read on the phone itself, with Apple's built-in text recognition. The photos are not saved by the app and never leave your phone.

Location

Your location is used only while you measure a throw with GPS, to work out the distance between where you threw from and where the disc landed. Only that distance is kept. Your position is not stored or shared.

Sharing your bag

If you choose to share your bag, the app makes an image that you send yourself, with the apps and people you pick. It includes the name you typed, if any. Nothing is shared unless you do it.

No accounts, ads or analytics

There is no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party services in the app. Discscan does not track you across apps or websites.

Deleting your data

You can remove discs, throws and favourites inside the app at any time. Deleting the app removes everything it has stored.

Children

Discscan collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
